Case Study: Website Makeover

Silver Oak Website Makeover

When Silver Oak Wealth Advisors came to Impact Communications in 2021 and said they were unhappy with their current website, it looked fine on the surface but when we took a closer look we learned that the WordPress framework was broken and outdated. Functionalities had been lost. They could no longer do simple activities such as post to the blog. Licenses for plug-ins had not been renewed and the site was vulnerable to hackers and downtime. Finally, the Silver Oak team felt that the messaging and photography needed a refresh.

We determined to stay with WordPress because that is what the Silver Oak team had become familiar with and they had already hired a WordPress technician to do the development. But the developer did not know the financial services industry nor did he understand the nuances that come from being an SEC Registered Investment Advisory firm. In short, he had the technical abilities needed but could not do any copywriting and did not have strong aesthetic abilities.

Working with the Silver Oak team over a couple months, we worked through every section of their current site and determined what to keep and what to scrap. We went through a meticulous process for selecting new imagery and writing new copy for the site. A new wireframe was developed and, eventually, all of these elements were provided to the web developer to use in building out the site on a new WordPress theme and a new hosting platform.
